Professional seminar : Participative approach & interculturality : issues for heritage
Musée des Cultures Guyanaises
French Guiana
2016, April 5th – 7th
This third professional seminar (after Belém in 2011 and Cayenne in 2012) was held in Kourou at the Atlantis Hotel, from 5 to 7 April 2016.
The main theme of the seminar questioned the notions of "participatory" and interculturalism. It has been defined in cooperation with the network partners: the Stichting Surinaams Museum, the Museu Paraense Goeldi Emilío and the Musée Alexandre Franconie.
The seminar brought together professionals from several parts of the Guiana Shield: Guyana (Georgetown), Suriname (Paramaribo Moengo), Guyana (Awala-Yalimapo, Mana, Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, Kourou, Cayenne, Regina) and Brazil (Brasilia, Belem).
During the seminar, foreign participants discovered the Archaeological Interpretation Center in Kourou and the Karapa Amerindian Kalawachi Center in Kourou.
The event was a new opportunity for the heritage professionals to meet, to exchange knowledge and to know new recruits as professionals from other fields working with participatory methods and / or in an intercultural context and using heritage in their projects: associations (ADER, Graine Guyane), University of Guyana, CNRS, Guyana Amazonian Park, Environmental Department ..
And new links have been forged.
