Maps and Men
New maps viewing to get more familiar with Amerindian territories located on the Oyapock, French Guiana. Available for consultation on the network..
The « Parc Amazonien de Guyane » has made available interesting maps, created for a research program led in cooperation with populations from Camopi village and French insitutions: the OHM (1), the CNRS (2) and the CIRAD (3). This program launched in 2010 aims more particularly to study demographic, sociocultural and economic behaviour of the Oyapock inhabitants.
These maps concerns more specifically Wayãpi and Teko populations. They give an overview of the high populations' knowledges of their environment and the way they could adapt themselves to it through the history, since the 19th century. With these maps, learn names of rivers, falls, mountains or even localities of the Oyapock.
